Viking Construction announced it has achieved the highest Diamond Level in Associated Builders and Contractor’s STEP Safety Management System, meaning the company is 655% safer than the industry average. Founded more than three decades ago, STEP has evolved into a world-class safety program that dramatically improves safety performance among construction industry participants.
“Protecting our team and our clients’ property has always been the reason we have taken safety so seriously and having such an excellent track record is our greatest reward,” said Anthony Gaglio, Sr., Viking Construction president.“However, we also appreciate receiving recognition from leaders in our industry who set extremely high standards. This Diamond Level achievement is really a reflection of the dedication of everyone at Viking.”
Among Viking’s efforts to ensure quality work and safety in the construction industry are its longstanding safety program which is customized for each jobsite. These programs are always shared with the entire project team – and reviewed daily by management. Throughout each year, employees are required to attend safety training and follow best practices – and are encouraged to come forward with any concerns about safety on the jobsite from employees or sub-contractors so Viking can take proactive steps to avoid problems. Viking also works closely with OSHA on voluntary safety programs and educational events. The company has received numerous awards and recognition for its safety protocol including earning the Safety Contractor Award and the Accredited Quality Contractor designation by Associated Builders and Contractors.
